Working with airline partners, FairAir created the first market exchange where customers could buy, sell or change the name on airline tickets. Started in early 2000, FairAir raised $6.5 million and spent a year developing the business relationships and software necessary to build the exchange. Widely heralded in the press, FairAir opened to the public in May 2001 with limited routes on partner airlines. Lacking airline support to expand the available inventory, FairAir closed in June 2001.
