I am First Assistant Attorney General in the Department of Law's Tort Litigation Unit, where I manage the unit's attorneys, paralegals, and administrator, and serve the Office of Risk Management and State agencies and institutions of higher education in tort and civil rights litigation, and as an advisor and counselor. Previously I managed the Department of Law's management-side labor team within the Employment Practices & Civil Rights Unit. In that role I led the state's management-side legal efforts relating to collective bargaining, and supported the State's efforts negotiating the first statewide Partnership Agreement. My career has focused on defending clients in employment-related litigation. I have successfully led defense teams in claims brought under various federal and state anti-discrimination statutes, and advised clients in navigating challenging employment and labor law issues, including ADA accommodation and wage and hour requirements. In private practice, I defended numerous ERISA denial-of-benefits cases and represented employers in all aspects of NLRB representation and unfair labor practice proceedings, and had substantial hearing and trial work.
