Early in my life, I learned that I am a competitor in everything I do. Growing up, this competitive nature was discovered through sports, when I strived to improve my teammates and I in any way possible to achieve the common goal of winning championships or tournaments. As I gained competitive experience playing basketball, football, lacrosse, and soccer, I quickly learned not to hang my head over losses and instead to use my failures as learning opportunities to apply moving forward. I have kept this mindset going into my professional career as well. At the start of 2024, I was given the opportunity to intern as a Sales Intern at ALKU in Andover, MA at a company named ALKU, which is a premier staffing agency. In this role I shadowed Account Managers as well as had them shadow me, in order to learn how to build client relationships through cold calling and ultimately following up with clients and developing long term client relationships. I work within the Workday HCM practice, understanding client needs from design to implementation to post production support and optimizations, and providing contract resources to efficiently work within their teams. This experience managing client relationships helped me understand the full circle of the sales life cycle, as well as the importance of being a trusted and reliable partner. In my internship, I was also given the opportunity to support our business development team, in a role where I was instrumental in developing a market that ALKU had not yet fully developed. The information that colleagues and I gathered through building relationships with clients guided the company into making the executive decision to add this new market, Microsoft Dynamics 365, into their commercial business practice. Based on my success in each of these two opportunities within this internship I was given the honor of returning intern of the summer heading into my senior year. Moving forward, I aspire to continue to learn and grow in my sales capabilities, as well as ultimately one day take action on an entrepreneurial venture!
