About Dante P.

I'm a current graduate student at Crown Family School of Social Work, pursuing an MSW with the end goal of an LCSW. My focus is on mental health and the treatment of disorders with integrity, competence, and humanity. While I am in school, I am also a research assistant at CCHE, investigating HIV prevention and transmission. And my current internship is at Chicago House as a case manager assisting LGBTQ+ clients in health and housing.I am a career changer. My previous work was in hospitality, where I did everything from being a barista, bartender, cook, to manager. While I loved the industry in many ways and it could have sustained me, it was not fulfilling my passion for mental health. I knew I needed to learn new skills to engage in that passion. This former career taught me immense life and people skills. Hearing dark stories as a bartender, de-escalating fights, managing people who were at the brink emotionally, and more all inform who I am now.
