All Weather Windows is prototyping and testing smarter, more efficient windows and doors. I was involved with:1. Developing an existing prototype of an automatic, motorized window for production. There were two aspects to this project. Firstly, we designed and rapidly prototyped new features such as a break-away mechanism to protect the motor. Secondly, we optimized existing features for mass production.2. Designing and constructing a thermal test chamber to assess products' performances in realistic conditions. This included building a mounting system for full-size samples, up to and including double-doors. We also implemented instrumentation for logging temperature, pressure, and humidity.3. Testing techniques to deposit nano-scale coatings on glass that can be used to incorporate solar cells within windows or cause the glass to tint on demand. For better efficiency, we have automated as many aspects of the experiments as possible. Now, we are optimizing the spray process by methodically varying a number of parameters.
