This update reflects the split of Varex Imaging Corporation from Varian Medical Systems.Responsible for the production of 107 parts.Added 32 machining part numbers while adding only one person. Critical tolerances on many of the new parts is ±.0002".Reduced Machine time on high volume parts (16000+/year) from 15 min. to 3 min. Did the same to 6 more parts (18,000+/year). 4 man-years of capacity regained.Added Equipment to reduce part marking on one part from 45 minutes to 2 minutes.Upgraded toolroom equipment from manual to conversational and full CNC and added 4th and 5th axis capability to the Production floor. Developed a quality recording protocol for critical tolerances throughout the shop.

Work directly with Suppliers to ensure Quality Management System compliance, process capability and product integrity.

Responsible for the development of processes and procedures required to machine, fabricate and assemble equipment used in the nuclear industry. Research and implement all required specifications and requirements related to NQA-1 quality standards and systems. Serve as consultant, expeditor and liaison between customers, suppliers and manufacturing to ensure accurate and timely construction and delivery of the required equipment.

Capabilities included CNC mill and lathe, wire EDM, surface grind and heat treat. Strategic and tactical planning, fiscal requirements, quoting, sales, project management, budget, personnel, environmental compliance, specifications, reverse engineering, fixturing, tolerances, materials, customer interface. The recession beginning 2008 prevented the company from continuing its course. Diversified market in the face of harsh economic conditions. Migrated bulk of work from single piece to complex assemblies.Developed "reverse engineering" capabilities for special projects.Advanced to full CAD/CAM programming ability.

Responsible for all areas and systems pertaining to the machining of stainless steel castings for the Nuclear Energy Industry. Heavily involved in the initial startup of the company. Responsible for the continuous improvement and fine-tuning of the process, quality requirements, delivery schedule, supplier interface, tool management, labor and cost control.Doubled productions rates while adding only 10% labor by continuously improving tooling, feeds, speeds and order of operations.Actively implemented Six Sigma techniques in key areas.Scrap rate less than 1% for 5 years running.On time delivery-- machining never the cause of a missed shipment.

Responsible for the predictability of the hologram mastering process. Developed equipment to replace antiquated and broken machinery. Mapped all aspects of the mastering process and developed standards, formulations and procedures for repeatable results. Responsible for the laser cooling system. Directed the successful implementation of process equipment used for Class 1B flammable liquids (isopropyl alcohol). Designed and built equipment to greatly enhance the quality and repeatability of glass holograms by removing water and heat from the cutting process.

Researched and implemented all aspects of machining and assembly of aerospace castings and components. Duties included specification review and clarification, drawing interpretation and solid modeling, machining fixture design and fabrication, special tool acquisition and setup, writing detailed setup and production planning instructions, tool path generation and proof, overall CAD/CAM integration.Managed the planning and construction of a 20,000 square-foot machining facility. Spearheaded the design and implementation of an improved DynaRohr bond panel using new materials and techniques that significantly reduced its corrosion rate. Established design allowable and structural requirements, and coordinated engineering and tooling to support the change. Applied Boeing D1-9000 Advanced Quality System to the DynaRohr line.

Authored a detailed training manual on the DynaRohr process. Researched and installed environmentally compliant spray systems for applying hard-to-spray adhesives and primers that saved thousands of dollars in fines. Engineered and proofed an in-service repair technique which improved the durability of DynaRohr and reduced customer warranty claims.Developed a method of applying primer and adhesive to hardware so that acoustic properties were maintained.Designed and built machinery that applied adhesive to compound contoured surfaces. The equipment reduced setup time from 2 hours to 20 minutes and improved production capability by 300%. Reduced primer and adhesive usage by 15%, saving $7000/month.
