I began it with nothing but an empty office and about 3000 of my closest spider friends, who I quickly helped out of the suite. Being a minority owner and the operator and Executive Director, with no corporate support, HR or IT departments backing me up was an adventure. One that I very much embraced. I was able to get State Licensed and CHAP accredited in only 7 months. It was a very short period of time and was very exciting and somewhat challenging. The team that I was able to have join me was stellar. The care exemplary. The partners who we contracted with: Consolo Services as the Electronic Medical Record provider, Optum Hospice Pharmacy and AdvaCare were the best in the Hospice arena. We quickly added services like Pet Therapy, Music Therapy, Veterans Programs, Community Bereavement Programs, provided "Death Cafe's" to allow community members to discuss death and end of life and understand that they were not alone.The intimate and people driven hospice, quickly grew and was asked by the East Side of Cleveland facilities to expand to that side of town as well. This expansion was the first of several and allowed more exceptional hospice to be provided on both sides of Cleveland. A third office was opened in March of 2017 South of the Cleveland market in Ashland, Ohio. Simultaneously I began consulting for a nursing home company and opened a new office for them in Youngstown, Ohio and consultative control of their existing hospice office in McConnelsville, Ohio.With all of the moving parts and successes that we experienced over these 4 years, the controlling partners decided to sell, and quickly and easily were able to do so.Life continues and I am embracing new challenges and opportunities.
