I started by managing ‘customer communication’ projects within DMEA but quickly moved into more complex OnePM projects which included the customer billing team. In order to improve weekly communications and project status reporting, I worked with colleagues in USA and Belfast to successfully introduce a new weekly project reporting template.A strategic project called 'House & Home' was initiated in 2010 to increase market share by introducing a new insurance product to the USA market. I was the ANI project lead and 12 weeks were spent in Chicago getting to know the now very large distributed project team.

Information Services Belfast (now Digital Services) is the IT department for Belfast City Council, employing over 115 full-time IT professionals staff to support the day-to-day IT needs of 1200+ networked PC’s as well as systems procurement and development.. I was able to use my own initiative from day one as a software developer to improve performance of bespoke Oracle Forms for the new Health & Safety system and developed many complex PL/SQL data migration routines as the legacy VAX applications had to be migrated to a Windows based architecture.With a natural interest in learning new technologies and developing new skills, I was able to get involved in a variety of initiatives such as mobile devices, web application security, VMware, Oracle, SQL-server, Java, dotNET etc.Although working in a traditional waterfall environment, I was able to use Oracle Designer, a CASE tool from Oracle, for business processes modelling, database modelling, schema comparison and basic Oracle Form code generation. This was called Rapid Application Development which has evolved into Agile.This resulted me in fast tracking up through the scales to Senior Consultant (Principal Officer) and was given responsibility for the design and development of a new system for Cleansing Services (CREST) with front office contact centre integration to LA-CRM, ISB's bespoke Local Authority Customer Relationship Management system.As a Prince 2 Practitioner, I project managed the procurement and implementation of 3rd party applications for departments such as Waterfront Hall, Development Department and Building Control. In particular I was heavily involved in mobile, Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies and with the Pointer system from Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland ( now Land and Property Services LPS).

I developed an MS Access based Costing System which was used by the Management Account and I used Query 400 to develop numerous reports from the the IBM AS/400 mainframe.
