Orchestrated Acuity’s tech modernization by leading the software engineering and cloud operations organizations while retaining the responsibilities of VP of IT (less Service Delivery). Led an organization of 100+ on and offshore employees and contractors including Software, Infrastructure, Network, Cloud, DBE, Oracle Tech, Mar Tech, and EDI. Software Highlights / Achievements: • Revitalized Acuity’s application portfolio and legacy application platform through substantial security, technical debt, and functional improvements. • Partnered with Architecture to design and implement the next-gen, cloud-native software platform.• Founded a DevOps team who facilitated the adoption of Scrum, instituted standard project management tools and processes, and drove the migration of software releases to CICD pipelines. • Engaged a partner to staff an onshore-offshore team for handling legacy software support and maintenance enabling internal resources to focus on transformative products. • Software security improvements include achievement of SOC2 certification and closure of hundreds of software security flaws identified through security assessments, pen testing and security code review and analysis tools.Infrastructure Highlights / Achievements:• Centralized cloud operations for Acuity. Managed cloud platform for modern software hosting (including AKS and K8s). Developed cloud cost models, budget and SLAs / SLOs.• Directed IaC automations resulting in reduced cycle time for new cloud resource requests from days to minutes.• Led IT vendor management utilizing critical negotiation experience with major vendors including Microsoft and Oracle.• Continued infrastructure, network and database modernization / transformation initiatives and responsibilities of VP of IT that were started in late 2017.

Spearheaded the modernization of Acuity’s networks, hybrid cloud environment, databases, and software platform. Led an organization of 80+ employees including Infrastructure, Network, Software Platform, DBE, Oracle Tech, and Service Delivery. Infrastructure Highlights: • Architected the scale down and elimination of Acuity’s 30+ year old data center.• Led the redesign and delivery of Acuity’s on-prem compute, storage, and backup platform.• Spearheaded the reduction of Acuity’s technical debt by upgrading 400+ out of support servers. Migrated QA and Dev environments to a colo data center. • Security improvements include automated server patching from 0 to 95%+, delivery of Acuity’s immutable backup solution, deployment of CrowdStrike AV, and upgrade of Active Directory FFL.Network Highlights: • Directed the design and delivery of Acuity’s next-gen network to 40+ sites. Engaged a 3rd party reseller to manage Acuity’s circuits resulting in $800k annual savings. Security improvements include deployment of Network Access Control and advanced network segmentation for IT/OT.Database Highlights: • Led the modernization strategy to upgrade / eliminate 300+ databases. Developed Acuity’s Oracle EBS upgrade and support strategy. Migrated Oracle hosting to a colo data center. Service Delivery Highlights: • Led Acuity’s Service Delivery organization including ITSM, Frontline Support, NOC, and SOX IT Auditing. • Established Acuity’s Desktop Engineering team. Achieved automated desktop patching of 97%+ for 6,000+ workstations. Centralized purchasing ($1M annually) and replacement schedule for all Acuity PCs. • Led revisions to IT SOX controls and retrained Tech on the new processes resulting in streamlined and clean SOX audits.Software Platform • Led Acuity’s software platform team that set coding standards for all Tech software engineering teams.• Implemented a microservices architecture to deliver scalable, reliable, and highly available services.

Organized, staffed, and led the software engineering organization for Acuity's first commercial software products and services including the Atrius™ Indoor Positioning platform, Building Management Systems, Lighting Controls, and IoT related products and services. • Conducted M&A due diligence for multiple software companies to rapidly enhance functionality of Acuity’s software products / services.• Delivered, from concept to commercialization, Acuity’s indoor positioning product (Atrius) initially focused on the Retail vertical. Atrius was co-marketed with Microsoft at the National Retail Federation trade show and showcased in Microsoft’s Retail Experience Center in Redmond. The delivery of Atrius has resulted in hundreds of millions in new revenue. • Consolidated Acuity’s disparate lighting controls engineering teams into a centralized Digital Lighting Network software organization. Led the integration of hardware engineering’s waterfall delivery process with software’s agile delivery process with shared milestones including roadmaps, delivery stages, product testing and launches. • Partnered with hardware and product teams to deliver new products including Acuity’s industry leading nLight Air solution (networked wireless lighting controls). Directed development of the mobile app (Clairity™) that allows electrical contractors to wirelessly setup, configure and troubleshoot nLight Air enabled fixtures and controls.

Directed the design, development and delivery of Acuity’s custom e-commerce solution, Agile, consisting of 50+ .NET apps presented as a single web portal. Agile is utilized by 100+ independent manufacturer sales agencies and Acuity's direct sales reps to perform full lifecycle management of commercial lighting and control projects including lead, specification, configuration, quotation, submittal, and order management through post sales service. Directed 9 teams including BI, EDI, Software Platform Engineering, and 6 Application Delivery teams.
