Unfortunately I had to close down my Company DRD Consulting Pty Ltd in November 2018 due to ill health. The company produced many successful projects, and repeat work from satisfied clients, by providing high quality engineering, solutions to complex problems, a focus on results that were fit for purpose, and client satisfaction. I want to thank those who supported me over the years, and wish you all the best for the future.I have been a Civil Engineer since 1966 (over 50 years), and I have enjoyed the engineering work during this time. I hope that the focus of Engineers now and in the future can be on providing the best engineering solutions, the best quality project outcomes, and passing on knowledge and experience to other Engineers to benefit the Engineering profession, rather than on profit based focus and a "Typing pool" approach to Engineering design.

In March 2015 Drd Consulting was established, specialising in highway design, urban and rural roads, infrastructure projects, design review and certification and project management. Daryl's extensive experience in these fields will enable the company to provide quality service and sussessful project outcomes for clients.

In December 2013, Sinclair Knight Merz merged with Jacobs forming Jacoba Group (Australia) Pty Ltd.Jacobs® is one of the world’s largest and most diverse providers of technical professional and construction services across multiple markets and geographies. Jacobs has a staff of over 70,000 people covering multiple disciplines across the globe.Daryl was engaged on a range of multi-disciplinary projects including highways, roads, and local roads for the Queensland Department of Main Roads, and other clients within both the public and private sector. He has a great deal of experience in the successful completion of large projects, and applies this experience in his current role.

Daryl has 39 years’ professional experience in Australia in project management, design and documentation for major multi-disciplinary projects including motorways, highways and local roads. He has considerable experience in the successful delivery of large complex TMR projects. Recent projects include:PROJECT | Bruce Highway Cooroy to Curra project – Section C. Client: Department of Transport and Main RoadsRole: Project director. This project involves the planning, options analysis and business case for Section C including 14 Km of dual carriageway motorway, road design, bridge design, grade separated interchanges, environmental management, property access, service roads and drainage, quality and risk management, cost estimating, reporting and documentation. PROJECT | Pumicestone Road Interchange Project, business caseClient: Department of Transport and Main RoadsRole: Project Manager and Project Director. Preparation of a grade separated interchange including service roads, access provisions, and planning provisions for adjacent land. Daryl’s role includes management of time, cost, quality and risk, reporting and liaison with the client.PROJECT | Bruce Highway Cabbage Tree Creek and Back Creek RangeClient: Department of Transport and Main RoadsRole: Project director. Options analysis, business case and detailed design for two sections of the Bruce Highway north of Bundaberg. PROJECT | Multi-Modal Transport Corridor from Creekside to Maroochy Boulevard, Sunshine CoastClient: Department of Transport and Main RoadsRole: Project director. Daryl holds corporate responsibility for this project. His role includes review of the road, bridge and bicycle concept designs; overview of traffic, environmental, sustainability and technical studies and reports; concept estimates and costing; time, cost, quality and risk management and reporting for incorporation into the brief for the Multi-Modal Transport Corridor detailed planning project.

Projects included design and management of projects such as the Brisbane Airport construction, Ansett Hanger civil works and pavements, the Logan Motorway, the Bruce Highway, the Cairns Southern Access Road, and numerous urban development projects.

Senior Engineer engaged on projects such as:* The Hay Point Coal Terminal - civil works for coal bunds, drainage, roadworks, water supply, andcoordination of structural, civil, mechanical and electrical disciplines, and extensive shore protection* The Gateway Bridge approaches, toll plaza and local roads - geometric design, drainage design, and construction supervision* The Gateway Motorway - Old Cleveland Road to Mt Gravatt-Capalaba Road, including design and documentation of roadworks, drainage, resumptions, and TMR contract documentation* Urban design projects - numerous urban design projects such as Ormiston Waters, and Ormiston Clearwater, and Settlement Road development.
