Manage and lead diverse team with primary goal to further the Member’s legislative agenda while serving as a senior adviser on all policy matters. Primary focus on: economic issues, trade, foreign policy, veterans, defense, homeland security, financial services, intelligence, gaming, and tourism.Communications: Guide strategy, develop press materials, and craft messages. Work with the press office to ensure a consistent, robust media presence. Prepare the Congresswoman for television and radio interviews (250 in 2016). Responsible for drafting speeches and other written pieces, such as op-eds and remarks, craft long term communications strategies, and maintaining social media presence. Regularly speak with reporters of issues of importance to the Congresswoman and the office. Represent the Congresswoman in meetings with business and community leaders; give speeches and hold dialogues.

Selected by TSA’s Assistant Administrator to serve on the intra-agency working group to reshape airport screening procedures. Helped the group produce and implement risk-based security initiatives, including the TSA PreCheck program, as well as creating and implementing communications strategy for a national rollout of the programs. Worked closely with the Office of Public Affairs on long-term communications strategy, crisis communications, and message/media management. Prepared senior executives for significant media events, such as policy or regulatory announcements, or responding to high profile events. Provided comprehensive briefings and materials for senior agency executives on issues related to the United States Congress. These materials were used as part of short and long-term strategic planning, including for additional legislative authorizations and increased appropriations. Worked with a deeply divided Congress to pass two bills into law and increase agency appropriations. Prepared Agency’s senior executives for Congressional hearings and meetings with members of Congress, including those who viewed TSA unfavorably. Over time, successfully developed more proponents for the agency and policies.

• Provided comprehensive staffing to for the Congresswoman in all work related to House Homeland Security Committee, including preparing background materials and questions for all committee activities.• Managed legislative portfolio including: Homeland Security, Financial Services, Small Business, Defense, Intelligence, Foreign Policy, Immigration, and Veterans Affairs.• Wrote written statements, social media posts, op-eds, speeches, and quotes for Communications Director. Was responsible for addressing immediate press inquires, including on sensitive campaign issues. Additionally, served as official Press Secretary for on the record statements to the media and background discussions with reporters. • Tracked legislation and provided recommendations for both committee and roll call votes.• Drafted, edited, and prepared letters to agencies, other members of Congress, state and local officials, and constituents.
