Responsible for leading and managing a team that identified, designed, and delivered over 150 high-quality programs annually for SCG's more than 330 philanthropic member organizations, and worked with the membership to pursue collaborative funding projects and cross-sector strategic initiatives. Promoted from Director of Programs & Public Policy to Vice President, Programs & Strategic Initiatives in Dec 2015 and Vice President, Collaboration & Community Building in Oct 2019.• As part of the leadership team, helped SCG grow from 10 staff to 30, 135 member organizations to over 330, and triple its annual budget in seven years.• Managed teams of between four and eight people, and focused on their career development, including two direct reports who are now Vice Presidents at SCG. • Led a program team that regularly produced 15+ educational and professional development programs a month, including three major conferences each year, that were attended by over 2000 people each year. • Built relationships with hundreds of philanthropic and nonprofit leaders and held regular convenings for these leaders about collaborative and cross-sector efforts that they could join to further their philanthropic impact. • Led and championed projects that focused on nonprofit capacity building, funder-grantee relationships, and nonprofit resiliency. • Supported networks for corporate funders, family philanthropy, LGBTQ philanthropic professionals, and veterans funders, among other specific subgroups of philanthropists, to learn, connect, and take action.• Helped change the organizational culture at SCG into one that eagerly partners with others on programs and projects.• Successfully led the effort to land a $3M grant to focus on addressing racism in Los Angeles.• Served as a philanthropy representative on many cross-sector strategic initiatives.• Was the incident commander for SCG’s immediate response to the COVID crisis, leading both internal and external work streams.

Provided strategic and management support for a few projects of Clandestine Management including the launch of a small art gallery and a global art, literary, and cinematic project with an urban renewal subtext. Utilized core skills in strategic operations, budgeting, marketing (including social media), stakeholder engagement, and project management.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

Developed strategies, identified business solutions, and designed and implemented projects for the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the National Association of Counties (NACo), among other clients.• Managed grants to the National Governors’ Association and NACo that funded policy forums for state and county elected and appointed officials. For all forums, assisted with forum designs, delivered presentations, and facilitated working groups.• Developed a DHS-funded support, sharing, and collaboration network for previously isolated grantees. Developed bi-annual meetings and a newsletter, and liaised with each grantee to ensure they understood the DHS and partner resources available to them.• Designed a pilot strategy implementation workshop that became the model for tailored state workshops that DHS has offered annually to all states since 2009. Designed and facilitated 23 of these strategic planning and stakeholder alignment workshops to help grantees meet national and mission objectives and develop meaningful networks for ongoing collaboration. • Co-authored detailed guidance documents on developing statewide and intrastate regional governance systems. Tasks included research, writing, editing, and designing new models.• Conducted 20 focus groups (10 with emergency responders and public health officials and 10 with the general public) for the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Assisted with focus group design and post-focus group response theming.• Designed and conducted outreach campaigns about DHS grant-funded research opportunities. • Helped DHS define a future vision for the Commercial Mobile Alerts System (CMAS), a geo-targeted alert and warning tool rolled out in April 2012.• Co-designed and co-taught Touchstone’s 3-day facilitation training course and seminal 2-day consulting training course.

As a subcontractor to Practical Strategy, LLC, provided consulting services to the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) for its Grants Management Streamlining and Burden Reduction Initiative, a CEO-chartered effort to improve the management of CNCS grants and reduce burden on CNCS grantees and sub-grantees (for all CNCS programs including AmeriCorps, SeniorCorps, VISTA, and Learn & Serve America). • Conducted interviews and focus groups with grantees and staff members (both at headquarters and in the field).• Reviewed program progress reports, application guidelines, performance measurement guidance, grantee toolkits and handbooks, data collection systems, and statutory and regulatory requirements.• Analyzed data related to grant and grantee size for risk assessment purposes.• Authored the final report that included over 15 recommendations, many of which were implemented.

Advanced from a mid-level position to director and senior director level positions, with an interim experience as CFO, for this Washington-based, nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank dedicated to improving government performance and citizens’ participation, understanding, and trust in government.• Developed and oversaw programs that supported the Council’s mission, including projects focused on leadership development and management, innovation, e-government, performance evaluation, and citizen engagement.• Raised and managed team budgets of between $1 million – $1.7 million annually.• Secured over $5 million from foundations and government agencies by writing proposals and cultivating relationships.• Built and directed teams of high-performance project leaders, project assistants, and professional faculty.• Developed and managed partnerships and initiatives with government agencies, corporations, non-profit groups, and academic institutions to increase revenue and broaden the reach and impact of the Council and its programs. • Designed, edited, and helped set the strategic direction for external and internal communications—including outreach initiatives, branding, marketing materials, website content, campaign materials (e.g. Take Your Kids to Vote), curriculum materials, proposals, and newsletters (online and glossy print).• Directed the Council’s award-winning Fellows Programs—year-long leadership development programs for senior leaders in government. Designed and managed additional projects for government agencies and for Fellows Program alumni, including best practices conferences, communities of interest newsletters, and a weekly speakers series.• Planned and managed the Council’s participation in the Innovations Awards, including directing the grant activities of more than 50 award winning programs in all major policy areas. Solely responsible for financial administration of over $5 million in grants to these programs over five years.
