I hold the current position of Deputy Fire Chief / Chief Medical Officer with the Kirkwood Fire Department. I have worked my way through the department in all the available positions starting as an entry level Firefighter / Paramedic, promoted to Fire Engineer and then to Fire Captain. I have been a member of organized labor in the role as a member and Shop Steward for the International Association of Firefighters. I have held the office of City Council Member and School Board Member (Treasurer) for a period in my personal life. I was the former President of the St. Louis County Medical Officers Association, current Co-Chair of the State of Missouri Advisory Board, East Central Regional EMS and previously held a board seat of the the Greater St. Louis County Fire Academy.I am a contract consultant in the Fire and Emergency Medical Services space, specializing in the area of software design and functionality for the field user and administration back office suite, essential equipment and systems & processes as they relate to overall efficiencies. My career spans 33 years and has involved service in Private Sector EMS, County EMS and Municipal Fire Departments. I have been involved in all aspects of QA/QI, leadership, project management and implementation, budgeting and technology services.My formal education is in Engineering, with a specialty in Production Operations Management. I hold numerous certifications from the National Fire Academy including, Fire Service Supervision, Command & Control of Incident Operations, Unified Command for All Hazard Incidents, Courtroom Preparation & Testimony, Management of Emergency Medical Services, Advanced Leadership Issues in EMS, Emergency Medical Services – Special Operations and Fire Service Financial Management.
