I currently oversee all aspects of KCE’s land survey division. Duties include active supervision of multiple survey crews, policy implementation, marketing, contractual issues, and client relations. I engage in resolution of boundary surveys, including disposition of questionable lines of possession, easements, gores/overlaps, r.o.w. and riparian bounds. I review and sign-off on all survey related items including title, boundary, topographic, hydrographic, GPS, HD laser scanning, aerial LiDAR, and FEMA documentation. I setup, “QC”, and process GPS, echosounding, and digital level runs in support of projects. Administrative duties include preparation of proposals, scheduling deployment of crews, ongoing client relationships, company policy, ethical and corporate direction, and ongoing quality control analysis of field/research procedures & CAD standards. I am also involved with resolution of personnel issues in my division.KCE’s survey projects include private, municipal, and agency work.

I engaged in private practice in Orange County, New York. BTLS was a small firm offering general surveying services to the public, but with a focus on providing consultant and subcontracting services for other engineering and surveying firms who required technical services they didn’t have in-house, such as GPS and echosounding. The firm consisted of 2-4 employees at any given time. At all times, I personally engaged in the fieldwork, either with a survey tech or alone utilizing a Leica robotic total station and/or GPS equipment. As owner, I performed bookkeeping, marketing, contract negotiations, CAD drafting, and all other duties essential to maintaining and ‘growing” my practice. As principal of BTLS, I performed numerous title, construction layout, topographic, hydrographic, right-of-way, photogrammetric control, GPS control, realty subdivision, and FEMA projects. I setup and maintained the only privately owned GPS reference station in Orange County. In the spring of 2009, BTLS’s assets (equipment, client list, etc.) were purchased by KC Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C..

I managed all aspects of the survey department. Duties included communication with clients, attorneys, landowners, contractors, realtors, governmental agencies, and other survey/engineering firms. Coordination of field crews, fieldwork setup, reduction of notes, boundary calculation, research, writing m& b descriptions, plus time in field as needed for specific jobs was also required. I attended local planning board meetings and did cost estimates for proposed work as well as analysis of resulting work for billing purposes. I also wrote survey reports as required. During this time, I ran, resolved, and mapped ALTA surveys and calculated state plane conversions when called for. I learned, set up, and implemented AutoCad/DCA software as well as set up and maintained the office computer network. I researched and implemented automated data collection and the instructed the crews and office personnel in its use. In conjunction with the office engineers, I calculated lots for subdivisions in conformance with local zoning and health department standards and calculated and drafted plats, profiles, and grading plans both in manual and CAD format.During this time I attended Sullivan County Community College’s associates program in land surveying in the evening, completing all survey courses required for the major while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
