Head of Internationalisation at Estonia's 5th Tech Unicorn, Pipedrive, in charge of a team of 8 handling over 2,000,000 words of content per year of web, marketing, app and communications material across 22 languages. The questions I deal with are: How can localization contribute to and drive international growth? How can we make the localization processes scaleable and cost effective? How can we experiment with new technologies to help us reach more customers with our product? At the same time, I have a PhD in Central and East European Studies, using Critical Geography to explore Citizen Diplomacy and social representations of space, region and national identity in Estonia against Public Diplomacy, Nation Branding and External Communication as an expression of external national identity in the 21st Century. The key outcomes were an exploration of the role individuals play in presenting their countries, and how their representations align with and diverge from 'official' narratives. Additionally, with my background in languages and critical geography, I have an interest in minority language preservation, indigenous cultures, de-colonisation of identity, and post-colonial thought, as well as the emerging field of nation-branding and national marketing. I am also an award-winning English language teacher at several higher education institutions in Tallinn, Estonia; a translator, language consultant, writer, editor, proof-reader and copywriter.
