I am proud to be a ShelterBox Response Team member (SRT); one of 195 volunteer humanitarian aid responders from around the world. Following a natural or man-made disaster we are on the ground in 48-72 hours in two-person teams and bringing Shelter, Warmth & Dignity to those in need. We do this by utilizing a range of options from family tents to tarps and other NFI's to be used as transitional housing while survivors rebuild their lives. COVID- 19 Deployment to Public Health Seattle King County in support of the Public Health COVID-19 outreach teams to set up PPE Supply line. Task completed were finding and managing a set of PH Vehicles for Nurse teams, setting up a supply line from King County & Privater contractors for specific items the outreach team needed, including Masks, Gloves, Gowns, thermometers, etc. Developing a resupply ordering system and setting burn rate of equipment.

As a manager in the Preparedness Section of Public Health my tasks are centered around caring for people through others. I manage and assign the staff of Public Health during a disaster or medical emergency. I also actively recruit and provide training for the Public Health Reserve Corps (PHRC). These two groups come together during a Disaster or Medical Emergency to provide Medical Services to the population of Seattle & King County. These services are able to run Mass Vaccination sites, Support Red Cross or Government disaster shelters or set up and operating a Alternate Care Facility to support our local hospital system.During non disaster times our 900+ PHRC is active in the community helping under-served community member's become more resilient.

During my 4 years with the American Red Cross serving King & Kitsap Counties, I helped restructure three failing programs, build leadership in both employees and volunteers in order to set up and operate during a disaster. I helped build partnerships with our government & non-Government partners in order to understand our responsibilities and duties during a disaster.I led the planning effort for the preparation for the Green River Flood that will be with us for a few years due to the instability of the Howard Hanson Dam. This included moving American Red Cross National Assets, including, shelter supplies a Red Cross Kitchen and pre-identifying large groups of volunteers to move into the area.I have served in leadership positions on five nationally declared disasters including Galveston Island during Hurricane Ike.

I lead a team of Red Cross volunteers that respond to disasters (Mostly House Fires) in King County and help provide food, clothing and shelter within guidelines. This work involves leading and motivating people (often in the middle of the night) to help the families in need. This includes mentoring new volunteers and keeping all of them interested in the program by communicating through email updates. On scene the works is a little frantic, but controlled and often means listening to the clients to cull the essence of what needs to be done in short order.My first job in Emergency Management - I was hooked

Managed a 200,000 sq ft fulfillment Center and was responsible for all aspects of the operation. This included receiving, inventory control and direct to consumer shipments. Averaged 1,000 orders per day shipped for Sears & Sam's Club.

I managed the hiring, training and supervision of multiple inbound teams which included, Real Networks & Visio, along with a couple of game makers

I managed a inbound customer service team who used the phone system to assist Eddie Bauer shoppers pick the right clothes. Also helped set up an up sale/cross sales system.
