Executive Producer
As Executive Producer I'm responsible for all production aspects of games published by Rogue Play. My job allows me to work the business development side of things as well as the production side as well.Rogue is focused on IP based mobile games, so a major part of my job is to develop game concepts that could compliment various IPs. Once the concepts have been fleshed out into a pitch deck, I source developers that could be a good match for the style of game we'd like to make. I also negotiate contract terms, set parameters and expectations, schedules, budgets, and set up outside vendors as needed.Once all the paperwork is complete and signed offed on, I implement a three phase system of for production. First, I like to start with a prototype. This is quick 4-5 week phase where we focus solely on finding the fun, repetitive action the user will do over an over again. The idea here is to quickly iterate on the core action of the game and fine tune or find the trouble spots. Examples of this might include shooting a weapon, throwing a punch, making a match in a match-3, etc... Second is a First Playable phase. This phase should demonstrate the entire core loop of the game. All main features should be there by the end of this 2-4 month phase, along with approvals for all supporting documentation. If this phase is passed we move onto full development with normal milestones.I oversee the game all the way through beta and WW release. This includes making sure we QA, User Test, localize, compat test, insert all needed SDKs, etc... My goal is to deliver a high quality game, on time, on budget, and ready across all devices. The process I use is designed to have checks along the way that will reduce overall risk.I love what I do. My job enables me to feed both sides of my brain. I enjoy the design and creativity I get to use coming up with concepts, but I enjoy equally the business aspects of the job. I can't imagine working in another field.
Web & Mobile Publishing Manager/Game Designer |
Working in publishing means wearing many hats. My job breaks down into two main categories, vetting and consultation. The vetting part of my job consists of evaluating products that come across my desk and also seeking out games that might be a good fit for our publishing efforts. I evaluate games that are sent to us through various means to see if they will be something we'd be interested in getting behind. I also attend conferences to meet with prospective clients as they pitch me their games. I help to provide the team with analysis on which games we should go after and which we should not.Once games are signed to a contract the second part of my job takes over. I'm in charge of the Design and PM consulting service we offer to all our clients. This means providing detailed and comprehensive feedback and knowledge sharing to our clients. It often means traveling to wherever the client is to work with them onsite in order to help make the game the best it can be. I also coordinate weekly calls with the clients and work to get them across the finish line and launch the game. Post launch we continue to provide feedback and expertise to help them meet targets for key metrics that we've set for the game. Publishing is about building relationships. So a big part of my job is building up the relationship and trust needed to have an effective partnership.
Project Lead
I lead testing teams to review games for certification. We acted as first party would to make sure the games were compliant to TRC standards and were in a playable state.
