I am a design and RD&D lead with over 35 years of experience in architecture, sustainable design, stakeholder engagement design and charrette facilitation, and cultural heritage assessments and research. I have a PhD in Architecture, with a specialisation in archaeology, from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, in Trondheim, and a Master of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, U.S.A. I have worked on landscape designs and publishing scientific papers with my business partner, biologist and Nature-Based Solutions pioneer John Todd, since 2004. In 2010, I was a Research Council Norway postdoctoral research fellow in sustainable innovation at OsloMet University, where I researched how construction and development firms in Oslo should incorporate the Passivhaus low-energy standard into their entire value chain. I am a registered architect, MNAL, in Norway, a charrette planner, certified by the National Charrette Institute in the U.S.A., a U.S. Green Building Council LEED AP, a member of the Norwegian section of ICOMOS and a published author in the fields of sustainable built environments and buildings archaeology.My competencies and experience include designing sustainable and ecological built environments, designing and facilitating stakeholder workshops, researching and analysing built environment policies and practices, guiding clients through the programming process and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and partners. I am passionate about advancing sustainability, resilience, and community social capital building initiatives.My current position is the design lead at the Norwegian firm I co-own, Aqua Naturae A/S. The firm brings to the global market Nature-Based Solutions and the ecosystem approach for built environment design, based on 20 years of collaboration with biologists and environmental engineers in the fields of ecologically engineered wastewater infrastructures, sustainable landscape planning, and eco-agro-forestry park designs.
