I am a partner at European law firm, Fieldfisher, specialising in Advertising and Franchise and Licesing, with over 27 years' experience helping businesses to promote and commercially exploit their brands and other intellectual property.As co-head of our Franchise and Licensing practice, I support many household names as they expand both domestically and overseas using third party relationships such franchising, distribution and agencies. I work with a broad range of clients within a variety of sectors including retail, food and beverage, hotels and leisure and general services.As head of the firm’s Advertising and Marketing group, I work with clients to develop goodwill in their brand, specifically advising on all forms of marketing communication and promotional activity including clearing campaigns, writing sweepstakes rules, drafting agency contracts, merchandising, sponsorship and brand extension contracts. I have also worked closely with ISBA and the main network advertising agencies to produce a new industry template Media Buying Agency Agreement which has been adopted by other associations including the ANA.I am a consultant editor on the editorial board of LexisNexis' PSL online publication and also contribute content for the Commercial section of that publication – primarily advertising and marketing and franchising. I am the only UK lawyer to be ranked by the legal directory Chambers 2024 as a leading expert in both franchising and advertising and marketing. I am rated as a leader in my field by the Chambers and Legal 500 and An International Who's Who of Franchise Lawyers (Law Business Research).
