I am Headmaster at St James Senior Boys in Ashford. At St James we offer a distinctive education, uniting a philosophical approach to the development of essential life skills with an emphasis upon academic excellence. Our aim is the allow a boy to grow gracefully into a man of strength and good character, achieving at the academic level more than he thinks is possible. At St James, true education, which aims to release the brilliance of all pupils requires dedicated staff with an open hearted approach to pastoral care that encompasses the whole child and accepts no limits. Such total care ensures that boys develop self knowledge and inner confidence which leads to a smooth transition from adolescence to manhood. This is an educational approach that marries the best of a traditionally classical education with the latest research into mindfullness and effective teaching and learning.Oversaw the very ISA Inspections, the first in November 2013 where St James were judged as Excellent in three areas and then in 2019 where we were outstanding for pupil development. The school has increased its pupil numbers by 70 pupils seven years since I took over and is now over 400 pupils. We were awarded the ISA Award for an outstanding Physical Education Provision (2017) and ISA Award for Oustanding Parent Enagagment (2018). Nominated by the TES for a Well Being Award in 2020 for the Personal Mastery Program created by myself and Light-Works. The final result will be announced in February. Mindfulness is completely embedded in the pedagogy and most staff are trained in .b mindfulness.

I was Head Master at Long Close School in Slough, which is owned by Cognita for seven years. In my time at Long Close I established my ‘vision’ of ‘Inspirational Teaching & Traditional Values’ for the school and a clear strategic direction for the next five years. I extended the school to 16, increased the size of the Nursery and dramatically improved academic standards throughout.
