Programme Leader for BSc Web Design and Development,

Lecturer in the department of Computer and Information Sciences teaching on modules such as Introduction to Information Systems, Skills for Information Professionals and Big Data and Business Intelligence. I was primary supervisor for 3 Masters student's Dissertation projects. I was also module tutor for Research Methods on the Information Technology and Data Science course.

My research investigated the online information interactions of English as a second language users. Specifically identifying how they interact with and interpret information when given UK governmental services themed search tasks.To date this research has led to the publication of three conference papers (one short and two full) on the information behaviours of English as a second language users and the impact task difficulty and confidence has on search performance, which can be found on my researchgate profile.I have presented the short paper as a poster at the Conference on Human Information Interaction & Retrieval 2017 in Oslo, where I also took part in the Doctoral Consortium. One full paper was presented as both a poster and talk at the European Conference on Information Retrieval 2017 in Aberdeen. The other was presented as a full presentation at the European Conference on Information Retrieval 2018 in Grenoble.My thesis was submitted in November 2018 and the PhD awarded in June 2019.

I was a research assistant for an ILG funded project investigating the Search and Information Literacy skills of Scottish teenagers.My primary role was in the analysis and dissemination of data. I gave a number of invited talks to key stakeholders and members of the Scottish Library & Information Council (SLIC). As well as at SLIC organised events raising awareness of the study and disseminating findings.I am the first author of the conference paper "An investigation into Scottish teenagers’ information literacy and search skills" which was presented at the Information Behaviour Conference in October 2018.

I supervised and taught undergraduate students primarily in the Introduction to data and information and Business Intelligence Applications and Technology modules in a university teaching environment. I also acted as cover for the Business Environment, Organisations and Management Information Systems module.In the Introduction to data and information module, I lead seminar sessions on the fundamentals of information systems and information retrieval. This includes demonstrating the practical application of information retrieval methods, engaging in discussion with students on the core topics of the module and moderation of group presentations and written reports on the topics.The Business Intelligence Applications module involves demonstrating and supporting the use of SAS Enterprise Guide (EG). This includes the support and guidance of students in their introduction to the software and its practical application in line with the SAS Enterprise Guide 1: Querying and Reporting accreditation. I am also involved in the moderation of final assignments on the topic of Business Intelligence Solutions.

Clerical and administrative duties for the Countryside Stewardship grant. Providing customer service and support to claimants or their representatives to ensure a quick and efficient resolution to the claim process. Involved in the investigation of claim under/over payments and amendments to land records in light of changes to claimants environmental factors.

MSc in Business Information Systems Management.

First point of contact for those involved in a motor insurance claim I provided excellent customer service to external and internal customers during the claims process. Ensuring all details are logged correctly using Tescos specific IT system (Iseries) to register claims and view policies.• Ensuring all essential information is collected from customers and colleagues and stored in a concise manner. Vital in complaint resolution.• Analytical and solved problems in the proactive resolution of incident management and data collection.• Negotiation and persuasion during liability discussions.• Teamwork whilst providing advice and guidance to colleagues both internally and externally during the claims process.• Leadership by taking responsibility for actions and justifying outcomes whilst leading by example.• Working under pressure as following protocol and recording salient facts whilst customers are in often precarious situations.

I ensured the successful collection of the 2011 Census questionnaire from each household in my designated areas.• Organisation and time management as workloads were self managed in order to meet the expected level of returns required.• Customer Service and communication whilst providing aid and guidance in the successful completion of each questionnaire.

Working on behalf of British Telecom (BT), my role was to call and offer existing BT customers in the UK, BT broadband.

I acted as overseer and security for management and customers, observing business operations for irregular activities by either employees or customers.

I was responsible for the smooth running of this very popular international hostel.

Spent the time travelling and exploring Europe.

My responsibilities were to advise customers of product ranges, inform and update customers regarding their private accounts and provide extensive technical help regarding online accounts and the logging of technical referrals.
