Developed a highly competitive ready mix concrete market for Sarjeants which had been somewhat neglected. This required "hitting the streets" to redevelop relationships and form new ones from the various builders in the area. The plant was able to move from being a seasonally operated plant to a full time plant by the time I moved on from Sarjeants. Given the initial low volumes, I also ran the operations of the plant for a couple of days a week, including: - Driver/Truck scheduling based on next-day orders - Running driver/truck dispatch and concrete batching - Materials requirement planning and ordering - Monitoring and maintaining profitability of the plantWhile working this job, I inherited the culture of over-the-top customer service that Sarjeants instills on their salespeople (along with the rest of the organization), and the importance of developing and maintaining real relationships with customers. These are the most valuable qualities I learned from Sarjeants, and remains firmly ingrained in my day-to-day work practices today.
