I have over 15 years experience in private practice as an architect and 8 years professional experience in the public sector as a conservation officer advising on heritage matters. The skills gained across both the private and public sectors allows me to successfully manage the challenges of development affecting the historic environment.Across both the private and public sectors, I have experience of negotiating planning/ listed building approvals, preparing Conservation Area Appraisals, Conservation Management Plans, Local Lists, feasibility studies and investigating funding initiatives for heritage assets. I have also been involved in monitoring grants for Townscape Heritage Initiative Schemes (THI). As an architect I worked for clients, including English Heritage and the National Trust, on refurbishment and projects that involve new design in sensitive locations. I also undertake Quinquennial building surveys and provide technical advice to owners on the repair and maintenance of historic buildings.
