Working within a small team in a very busy environment, my duties as bar tender included keeping the bar well stocked, ensuring bar area was kept clean at all times, operating tills and handling money, while serving and dealing efficiently with customers. I was also involved in many large events such as weddings, where the ability to work under pressure and within a very busy environment was essential. Working with such a large and wide variety of customers has helped improve my communications skills and highlighted the importance and value of excellent customer service.

During my placement year as part of my degree course at Queen’s University, Belfast, I worked as both a technical advisor & a programmer for Sysco Software Solutions in Belfast. This involved very quickly getting familiar with both the product we partnered with Microsoft to implement (Dynamics NAV – Now named Business central), and the programming language used to build the product’s functionality (C/AL). I was tasked with assisting in the development of bespoke functionality requirements for clients using Dynamics NAV/ BC, in addition to providing technical support for issues/bugs within existing bespoke changes to the product for clients. I was involved in the process of receiving and completing Change Requests/Support Tickets to allow a Customer Support Member/ Consultant to provide acceptance testing for my change.This experience required me to work on my own initiative, while enhancing my teamwork skills, taking part in weekly stand-up meetings to discuss both team and individual progress. During team meetings I provided our head of development with updates on with change requests/support tickets highlighting issues should they have arisen.
