Group Financial Controller

Responsibilities• Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Group Financial Controller is responsible for managing three direct reports and a team of ten staff, the role is responsible for a departmental budget of $7.2m• Provision of an effective and efficient finance function including all budgets, forecasts, management and statutory reporting; taxation; monitoring actual revenues and expenditure to operational budgets; managing and reporting cash flow; accounts payable / receivable and funds management, for each of 4 operating entities and the group consolidated entity.• Manage external audit relationships and ensure that the internal control systems are in place and effective.• Resolve any complex commercial issues that may arise, including acquisitions and substantially contribute to the development and achievement of the corporate strategic plan.• Manage risk and compliance by ensuring adherence with all legal, statutory and corporate governance requirements on an ongoing basis (including Sarbanes Oxley). Monitor operational risk by overseeing Kaplan’s compliance and risk management framework.Achievements• Successfully integrated the finance functions of Kaplan and Finsia following the acquisition.• Recognised as a hard working team player by all colleagues at Kaplan.• Superior organizational skills. Deliver accurate reports, adhering to a strict timetable, including US reporting requirements.• Successful completion, audit and lodgment of the statutory financial statements for 2007, 2008 and 2009.• Successful completion and lodgment of all tax statements and returns.• Flexible and positive attitude. Excellent relationship with the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Management.• Excellent written and communication skills. Ability to work comfortably with colleagues at all levels, from junior staff, through to Executive Management and the Board of Directors.
