About David Chaplin
I am hard working, conscientious and diligent in everything I do.Since leaving Arm in 2018, I have initiated a long-held desire to give something back to society and joined the East of England Ambulance Service as a frontline Apprentice EMT. HOWEVER... I still need to keep my hand in with technical writing so am available for contract work of a couple of days a week.While at Arm, I had three roles - Verification Engineer, writing C/C++/Perl/ARM assembler to test IP designs before tapeout; Support Engineer, answering customers' support queries and also training customers around the world in Arm's IP; and Technical Author, writing the documentation to support Arm's IP, using Dita CMS and FrameMaker.Before Arm I worked mainly in software/firmware writing for companies in and around Cambridge, using Basic, Pascal, C/C++, Intel and Hitachi assembler. I have also worked as a trainer on the government-sponsored iTec scheme, training 16 - 18-year-olds in IT skills.My hobbies include flying (I hold private pilot licenses), commercial drone flying, cycling, the outdoors in general (keep fit, hill walking, etc.), canoeing and emergency first aid.Runner up in East of England Ambulance Service Community First Responder of the Year 2007.
