About David Clancy

I am a leading expert in electrical utility design and digital engineering.I have more than 17 years’ experience in the engineering, design, operations, maintenance, and asset management of power systems, including overhead and underground utilities. I have been utilizing CAD and engineering systems for 17 years and developing them for the last 10 years to allow engineering and construction teams to work with improved technology.Over the last 17 years, I have found that I am passionate about the development of systems & technology such as digital twins, that can improve the way we design and build infrastructure. Over the past 10 years, I have been fortunate to expand my work to include operating, maintaining, and managing the assets as well, this experience has really driven my passion for developing the best systems possible, driven by data, to allow us to design, build, operate, manage, maintain and enhance the network.I believe that I can always do things better, that could be simpler, faster, or better user experience, as well as fixing mistakes and add new functions.I frequently work with all sorts of systems, from Autodesk CAD-based systems, digital twins such as Neara (formerly Powerlines Pro) as well as other digital engineering systems such as survey software (GPS & Total Station, LiDAR) ensuring system capability, interoperability as well as developing and proving engineering programs and calculations for the electrical distribution system.I am always looking to improve myself by learning new things and taking on new challenges. I feel the need to understand as much as possible about engineering systems and assets I work with, working from first principles & using as much data as possible can prove the most effective means of delivering projects and, this approach also allows any new systems developed for one purpose to be easily expanded to other purposes and uses with minimal effort.

Listed skills include Power Distribution, Firefighting, Underground Powerline Design, Overhead Communications Design, and 39 others.
