Responsible for the development and implementation of design and engineering systems within the Design and Customer works Programs team for CitiPower and Powercor.I have been fortunate enough to be frequently called upon by many different teams within the company to develop new systems for design, maintenance, operations, and asset management. I have had to develop a broad skill set with an intimate understanding of many aspects of IT systems, asset management, digital engineering tools, and processes to ensure compliance with legislation, company commitments, and bottom line.I am required to look at new and developing technologies and see how the design and engineering functions can be developed in order to best utilize new technology effectively. A key part of this role is being able to build technology-based solutions to suit the practical front line needs to deliver results, bridging the gap between what technology can do and what our customers & community actually need.I work extensively with LiDAR and 3D modeling tools in order to assist delivery teams to deliver projects as well as asset management & reporting teams to understand the state of the network and reduce spending on unnecessary activities while making sure to target the money that is needed to the most effective solution.I am also responsible for the business side management and operation of the engineering document management system. Ensuring that designers and engineers are aware of document control requirements and have the systems in place to effectively ensure their quality control is recorded and archived in the DMS.

I am responsible for providing expert advice to the design and project delivery teams and other technical and non-technical teams within CitiPower & Powercor.My main responsibilities are managing the Digital Engineering systems which include Computer-Aided Design, Survey (geotechnical) applications, and other Digital Engineering systems, so they can be used to complete design on new and existing infrastructure.I often collaborate with other engineering teams within Powercor/CitiPower and the broader utility sector to develop specifications for engineering software functions to meet compliance with Australian Standards and regulations.I am the lead specialist working with the AutoCAD Utility Design software (AUD) within Victoria’s largest electrical distribution company. Responsible for managing the ongoing business systems as well as fixing bugs, identifying better ways to utilize all CAD systems, and managing system upgrades. As a specialist in these tools, I am frequently required to work with engineering policy teams in order to perform complex assessments on overhead and underground infrastructure and provide advice on both individual issues and large scale issues within the company. I also collaborate widely across other power utilities in Australia and globally to ensure that I am always up to date on issues and working towards the most relevant goals.I am responsible for managing a support network for approximately 150 designers, engineers, and draftees across the western half of Victoria from Melbourne to Mildura, also conducting new starter and ongoing training.As part of the systems development, I am required to work with engineers as well as non-engineering personnel including customers in order to make sure that our systems are as suitable as possible for achieving the desired outcome.

As coordinator of the Powercor NBN Design team in Victoria I was in charge of a small team of developing individuals working with Transfield and NBNCo in Victoria to expand the NBN program as efficiently as possible. The team was focused on the survey, design & drafting of the NBN construction plans for overhead fiber optics in Victoria for the FTTP roll out. As part of my role as coordinator I mentored new company employees in both technical and administrative tasks in the company. I also represented the company to external clients such as Transfield & NBNCo on technical advisory committees to try to develop quicker ways of doing more work and to a higher level of quality and compliance.

Coordinate local & remote (FIFO) teams for their day to day & week to week activities while working on the design of the NBN roll out in Victoria and Tasmania.As Design Coordinator I was responsible for development of new works practices in design, drafting & survey teams working both locally & interstate. This involved developing safe work practices, technical assessments of existing systems and development of new systems including leading the Powercor Poles.NET survey/design package development.I was also required to ensure that timelines of projects, quality of deliverables and costs were met and improved significantly during this time. The development and constant change and improvement of systems and processes were a crucial part of delivering on these goals.

As the brigade Secretary I am required to keep up my skills as a firefighter, responding to calls with short notice at all hours. I am often required to drive fire trucks under emergency conditions to jobs and perform activities such as internal fire attack at house fires (wearing breathing apparatus), fight grass fires, lead crews in emergency situations, operate pumps and manage trucks on the fire ground.My role as brigade Secretary means I take a role in the brigade management team as the manager of finance & administration. I am required to generate reports for the brigade monthly and monitor transactions and make sure approvals and due diligence is carried out for purchases in the correct manner. I am also required to report to CFA on a yearly basis to ensure that all records are correct and payments are done correctly.During my time as Secretary I have enabled change in the way that the brigade pays for activities and purchases new assets moving from a purely cheque based system to a more electronic system that means Volunteer members do not need to pay anything out of their own pockets and wait to be reimbursed by the brigade.
