Supporting current products and projects, engineering change process, Bills of Materials and all forms of manufacturing engineering data. Carrying out Configuration control using MRP, SAP and Access databases. Training and mentoring new engineering starters.

My position was made redundant after the company ceased UK manufacturing and outsourced from the Far East.I chilled out, did up the house ready to downsize, move closer to my Daughters and looked for another position.

I managed the design change control process. My responsibilities were controlling the change process from design change proposal through authorisation to implementation. I was secretary at weekly board level Change Review Board meetings, putting all proposed changes with all drawing, specifications and printed circuit diagrams to the board for authorisation. I produced minutes and weekly reports for distribution company wide. I carried out all SAP database changes to parts, products and Bills of material (BoMs). I created Engineering Change Notes for internal and external production facilities, including four outsourcing sites in UK and Asia, sending these out with revised BoMs and all relevant data, ensuring any problems or queries were dealt with promptly. I was the company's 'power user' of Cooper Inc. (USA) global SAP database, creating records for all new parts and products, configuring and maintaining the products BoMs. I also carried out quality system internal audits for the Quality manager. My post was made redundant due to cost saving reorganization, closure of UK factory and a change to totally outsourced manufacturing.

As Chief inspector QA with this wood particle and aluminum suspended ceiling manufacturer I managed the QA department inspectors responsible for goods inwards, in process and final inspections and procuring, controlling and calibration of all gauges, scales and testing equipment. I was made redundant due to cost saving reorganization and factory closure in 1991.As Production Supervisor I managed a metal ceiling department producing open cell ceiling panels. I was responsible for efficient production to schedules and required quality standards within budget. I was project leader in introducing a new metal press production line. I wrote new operating procedures and safe systems of working. I recruited and trained 12 new staff. I set up and ran a total quality group that resulted in reducing machine downtime, rejects and rework saving over £18k in 18 months. Due to my success I was promoted to Chief Inspector

Started as an army apprentice in ammunition and explosive engineering and was promoted through the ranks to Warrant Officer Class 1 Ammunition Technician in the Royal Army Ordnance Corp. I was responsible for inspecting, repairing, modifying, testing, proof firing, trialing and carrying out demolition of unsafe munitions. This included the full range of the army's ammunition and explosives. The role included quality assurance, inspections and audits, investigating accidents as well as carrying out anti-terrorist Counter-IED duties as an ATO in Hong Kong, Northern Ireland and Germany. I had three tours of duty training apprentices in ammunition and explosive engineering and anti-terrorist Counter-IED to adult soldiers. I was awarded the General Service Campaign medal with Northern Ireland clasp and the Long service and good conduct medal.
