Cubellis purchased Vinick Associates in July 2007, establishing us as the Rocky Hill CT office.Under the management of Cubellis, I continued on as a Project Manager, handling multiple retail roll out clients. Clients included BCBG/MaxAzria, Harry & David, Waterford Wedgwood, Pompeu Bellusci, Osklen, and McGregor.Responsibilities included:- All phases of retail roll out work from initial site visits for as built documentation to Construction Administration- Proposal writing / Business Development- Meeting with Clients & Potential Clients- Financial / Budget Responsibilities for projects- Management of local productions teams- Coordination between disciplines / offices- Local IT liaison- Local CAD Coordination / Resource- Involvement in CAD Management teamCubellis closed the Rocky Hill office in October 2009. Work included drafting of 3D design documents for "selling" trade show booths to clients. For much of my time @ FDI, I was the sole CAD Operator.After projects were sold, I was tasked with producing shop drawings for the manufacturing portion of the company. This included working with the CNC Programmer to develop company standards so electronic files could be used to automate the programming of equipment and speed production.After shops were completed, I was then required to create assembly drawings that shipped with the booths to trade shows across the country. This provided simple instruction for remote crews to assemble & disassemble large booths at the trade shows.Major projects included large booths for companies as varied as Colt Firearms (multiple stories, including conference rooms, decks, working power & running water), Nine & Company, USA Networks, Norinco/ChinaSports, Smith & Wesson (a booth that would be used in Beverly Hills Cop 2), and Remington. I also worked on countless other smaller booths for many different companies.In addition, my previous experience with retail rollout work was utilized in the design and implementation of some store fixture design & manufacture, as well as the design and rollout of stand-alone flight planning kiosks for Signature Flight Services.Toward the end of my work at FDI, I started training additional CAD Operators in our production methods, as the business had grown drastically, and more CNC equipment had been added into the facility.

I performed CAD drafting (AutoCAD R9) with limited manual drafting, working mainly for Structural and MEP engineers. I did some limited architectural work.Main responsibilities included drafting, with some structural design & analysis. The majority of the design work was precast concrete tiltup panel design.Projects were quite varied, ranging from small condominium complexes to large educational facilities. They were also located across the western hemisphere, with large & small projects in the continental US, Alaska, Guadeloupe, Dominican Republic, and other developing countries.

Started as a CAD Operator (VersaCAD), working on retail store roll out programs for Casual Corner.My abilities to customize the software & workstation quickly changed my position to one of CAD Manager, and I was able to continue to leverage technology to the benefit of the company and our clients. I oversaw the growth from a single workstation to 6 workstations, and developed the corporate CAD standards and libraries. I also performed all system customization, including custom client libraries for all clients, and authored custom scripting and routines to automate many tasks. I also performed system maintenance & repair on all computer systems.In addition to the management of the computer systems, I took on added responsibilities of a Job Captain, handling design, coordination & production of working documents for such clients as Chico's, Esprit and Waterford Wedgwood. At the same time, I performed work for other Job Captains on retail roll out programs for Casual Corner, Early Learning Center, and other smaller retailers. When time & workload required, I also performed manual "board" drafting on projects as varied as one of a kind restaurants, private homes, and other retail clients.Though my stay with Vinick was relatively brief, it afforded me a wealth of knowledge, a broad experience base, and skills that have stayed with me since.
