David’s professional career spans in excess of 35yrs.His working life began in March 1970 as a craft apprentice at the Royal Ordnance Factory, Nottingham.However in March 1971, David’s career took a new path when he became an indentured apprentice with the Worshipful Company of Farriers. During the following years he received instruction through the CoSIRA training schemes, in electric welding, gas welding, elementary wrought ironwork and abrasive wheels regulations. At weekends and bank holidays, David also illustrated his commitment to his chosen craft, by demonstrating forging techniques, to the visiting public at the Bewdley Folk Museum.While working with Sandy Duff FWCF (September 73 – April 77), at East Saltoun Smiddy (Scotland), David proved his skills to become a registered farrier and in March 1977 was awarded the honour of becoming an associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers. In April 1977 David began his own practice at Scarrington Forge, Nottingham. In that same year David became a member of the National Master Farriers, Blacksmiths and Agricultural Engineers Association. While in January 1978, David became registered in accordance with the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975.Since 1977 David’s career has been one of continued reflective practice and progressive achievement, consistently seeking to support practical experience with academic learning."The best way to learn is to teach."
