Fremont Bank, founded in 1964, is a leading mid-tier bank and one of the oldest independently owned banks in the Bay Area. The Internal Audit Department ensures effective risk management and supports the Bank's objectives by conducting audits across Financial, Operational, and information technology.•Conducted comprehensive audits to ensure compliance with key regulatory standards (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Reserve Bank, Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, IIA) and performed FDICIA interim and year-end audit tests across critical banking functions, including Accounts Payable, Allowance for Credit Losses, ACH, Call Reporting, Close the Books, Commercial Loan Servicing and Origination, Deposits, Derivatives, Residential Loan Origination and Servicing, Investor Reporting, and Wire Transfers.•Evaluated management controls for FDICIA compliance, contributing to robust financial governance and identifying key areas for process improvement to enhance operational efficiency.•Executed risk-based audit plans for business processes and IT systems, including applications and infrastructure, while assessing compliance with IT, data protection, and data privacy frameworks (e.g., GLBA, CCPA, AES, NIST, COBIT, CFIPA, ISO) to mitigate potential security and compliance risks.•Designed and implemented a risk and issues dashboard using Power BI and Tableau, resulting in a 10% improvement in compliance tracking and reporting.•Collaborated with business management, risk management, and compliance teams to foster a comprehensive understanding of internal controls and recommended enhancements to governance and risk management processes.•Supported regulatory compliance by clearly communicating audit findings and updates to stakeholders, achieving management buy-in and reducing operational risks.•Assisted in preparing clear audit reports that pinpointed root causes and proposed actionable recommendations to address key findings.
