Vice President For Programs
CurrentSince 2017, David has played the role of Vice President for Programs, offering leadership and direct support for AFT’s 6 Regional Offices. He works closely with the organization's Regional Directors to advance programs, fundraising, and outreach across the country, and with AFT's national staff to foster collaboration and integration of national and regional programming. Additionally, David has played a primary role in fundraising, financial and personnel management for American Farmland Trust’s New York State Office. Relevant experience includes:• Helped establish and operate a New York Council to more directly engage financial and programmatic supporters in leading the organization’s work. • Managed a major donor program and relationships with more than 20 foundations and state and federal agencies. • Managed eight full time staff while engaging in active partnerships with government, nonprofit and private sector organizations.• Coordinated conferences, webinars and bus tours that trained more than 4,000 participants about land conservation, land use planning, agriculture and related topics. • Led direct and grassroots advocacy programs at the state and federal level. Drafted and helped enact four pieces of state legislation to enhance New York State’s Farmland Protection Program. • Worked directly with more than 20 town and county governments in developing and implementing agricultural economic development and farmland protection plans. • Coordinated farmland protection projects on ten farms that will permanently conserve over 4,000 acres of farmland.
