Key duties and responsibilities:• Investigating, engineering, and planning the implementation of configuration changes associated with existing Electronics and Informatics assets, to improve performance, respond to changing operational requirements, or achieve financial savings.• Manage engineering projects including developing technical statements of work for installation of new equipment or ship systems; propose new changes to existing ship structure and systems following Canadian and international regulations to meet CCG operational requirements.• Responsible for procurement activities for goods and services in support of Electronics and Informatics Projects.• Manage, update and create new vessels drawings and documentation using AutoCAD software from Technical data gathered from stakeholders and vessel visits.• Develop verification procedures for design proving, qualification, and acceptance testing of new equipment and ship systems.• Provide technical support for CCG Production and ship personnel in troubleshooting Electronics and Informatics assets.

• Managed and produced ILS deliverables for Leonardo DRS range of Uninterruptible Power supplies including technical manuals, troubleshooting guides, and other supporting documentation.•Monitored design compliance with project requirements and provide recommendations for improvements, including System Safety Objectives using MIL-STD-882E, Reliability Prediction and Modeling.•Provide assessment of obsolescence risk; based on impact, cost, and probability. Prepare reports and present findings to address cost, schedule, and technical risks associated with obsolescence. Support engineering projects in the Defence industry including:• Monitor Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) for Life Cycle Material Managers to identify component worst offenders, prioritize and provide solutions including maintenance changes, explore opportunities to increase equipment capability and other engineering solutions support for Canadian defense programs.• Produce System Safety Program deliverables using MIL-STD-882E, ARP4761, to assess the design of Avionics systems such as Navigation, Radar, VHF/UHF Radio and ensure they meet regulated and derived safety objectives.• Carry out assessment/modeling of component reliability (predictive or measured) and provide input and recommendations to achieve the reliability targets required through SOWs, DIDs and CDRLs. Participate in reviews and provide input and recommendations to improve current maintenance strategies in order to deliver reliability/availability improvements.• Develop and maintain sparing optimization models, performing Level of Repair Analyses (LORA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC) modeling. Undertaking trade-off analyses to optimize design and logistics decisions.• Provide assessment of obsolescence risk; based on impact, cost and probability. Prepare reports and present findings to address cost, schedule, and technical risks associated with obsolescence. Assist with the development of the mitigation strategies in collaboration with Asset Management Specialists.• Complete Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) on Electrical, Avionics and Mechanical systems using MIL-STD-1629a and ARP5580 (FMEA) to identify risks/reliability issues and present findings to initiate system or part design changes to mitigate them.

• Author of DND approved CP140 Aircraft Type Course, Electrical and Avionics modules; including online and classroom materials using Articulate Storyline.• Review CP140 training products within the Avionics specialty to ensure currency and accuracy of technical and instructional content.• Facilitate training and presentations including classroom theory instruction, demonstrations, on the job training, meetings and remedial student training.

• Responsible for supervising and certifying fault diagnosis, testing and modifications carried out on Tornado F3 Avionics systems, such as: ◇Aircraft Power, ◇Radar, ◇Radio Communication, ◇CSAS(Command and Stability Augmentation System), ◇Flight Instrumentations, ◇Auto Pilot,◇and the Missile Management Weapons System.• Carrying out aircrew de-briefings to aid in identifying Aircraft Faults and attend crew-in's included problems on armed aircraft.• Provide proactive training, consultation, assistance, and direction to junior engineers. • Ensuring aircraft log sets are maintained in accordance with RAF policies and national standards.• Lead and direct the Avionics Trade Desk in accordance with the Squadrons daily strategic plan (includes daily direction, goal setting and delegating of maintenance tasks to ensure the serviceability of Aircraft on front line fighter squadron).
