The Emergency Planning Secretariat is a non-political organization that supports 31 communities, from Yale to Semiahmoo to Squamish, in improving emergency planning and preparedness at the local and regional levels. We advocate for increased capacity for Mainland Coast Salish communities, the full realization of the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA), and the full representation of community values in all regional emergency planning, management, response and decision-making activities.

The Senior Emergency Planning and Response Manager oversees program priorities, requirements, budgeting, and procedures to implement and support Community programs and objectives. Job effectiveness can be determined by the ability of the Emergency Manager to take the lead in disaster mitigation, prevention, response and recovery planning, training, and coordination in the support of an incident, disaster, or emergency making maximum use of all public and private resources available.

Collaborate with various departments including being a member of the Emergency Management Team and external agencies/institutions to provide emergency management support to the organization and the communityDevelop and implement plans, procedures and protocols to maintain community awareness regarding emergency preparednessAssist in the development and implementation of plans such as the Emergency Plan, Pandemic Plan, Business Continuity Plan and Recovery Plan. Communicates and fosters an Emergency Operations Centre team with colleagues, supervisors, members of the public, and other key members to deal with all emergencies. Coordinate meetings and assign projects.Leads the Emergency Operations Centre as required by the nature of the incident. Provides guidance to the EOC Director.Provides overall jurisdictional direction and control, coordination, and resource support.Identifies emergency preparedness training requirements and coordinates all emergency management, preparedness and procedures training including drafting, maintaining and updating plans, procedures, processes and exercises.Provides representation and supports in the development and maintenance of local emergency management initiatives, as they relate to the Squamish Nation communities.Provides expertise and leadership in integrated planning in cooperation with ISC, EMBC, surrounding municipalities and regional districts and other First Nations organizations involved in emergency management and response.Works with the Emergency Management committee, to update existing Emergency management plans, HRVA report, Communicable disease plans (formerly Pandemic plans) in conjunction with QHS, First Nations Health Authority and SN Health and Wellness Department.Enhances capacity development in First Nations emergency management through the development of an emergency response-planning framework for organized operations during emergencies.Supports the HR Department in the recruitment, training and retention of emergency planning and response volunteers.Assists in the development of neighborhood plans for evacuation routes, marshaling areas.Contributes cooperatively to the Squamish Nation Education, Employment and Training team to achieve position and department goals.

•Developed Emergency Response Plans regulated by Transport Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and British Columbia Ministry of Environment. •Developed and facilitated Table-Top Exercises for clients regarding Emergency Response across Canada.•Responsible for providing regulatory advice to clients.•Development of training materials.

Emergency Management and Fire Prevention at Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service.

Worked as an outreach worker and federal residence worker with clients involved within the criminal justice system. Helped to manage clients experiencing impacts of mental health. Worked within Colony Farm Psychiatric Hospital. Facilitated clients in abiding by their probation conditions. Displayed effective conflict resolution and teamwork during stressful situations.
