I recently retired from my position of publisher for Redleaf Press, one of the country's foremost educational publishers that specialize in early childhood care and education. Redleaf publishes approximately two dozen books and other educational products each year. The editorial, design, production, marketing, operations, and sales functions reported to me.I have over 35 years experience in publishing, project planning, and management, especially educational publishing. I've done extensive work as a freelance writer, editor, and project manager. For 10 years, I owned and operated Heath Associates, Inc., a full-service development house for K-12 publishing.Before my career in publishing, I worked as a professional actor and musician, performing in Off-Broadway productions, regional theatres, and cabarets. Performance career highlights included: performing as John Denver's warm-up act; performing numerous times onstage with Pete Seeger; creating the role of Detective Markey on ABC's soap opera "One Life to Live"; member of the original cast of "On Shiloh Hill" that had two extended runs at Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC.I began my work life as a high school teacher and college instructor.
