David Hoard is known for his creativity and innovation within advancement operations with non-profits, arts organizations, churches and colleges and universities. He has a distinguished career recognized by numerous Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, (CASE) awards, Thurgood Marshall College Fund Outstanding Fundraiser of the Year (Twice), over 50 other various awards and the HBCU Digest recognized him for “having one of the most brilliant and effective university branding campaigns of all time”. His teams are responsible for raising over $250 million. He has run and counseled campaigns totaling over $300 million. He has also planned and coordinated financed projects totaling over $500 million for various universities and institutionally related foundations ranging from tracks, stadiums, other athletic venues, student housing, academic buildings, conference centers and retail centers.He has been a vice president at five universities, an associate vice chancellor for a university system and consulted and advised over 60 non-profits and universities. His experiences range from public and private universities, niche colleges, on line universities, systems of higher education and non-profits. Recently he was with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, where he lead an aggressive fundraising program for one of the most celebrated African American dance companies in America. Each year of his employment has seen record breaking fundraising years. Mr. Hoard is most proud that 14 of his former staff members are vice or associate vice presidents of development or advancement at universities throughout the country. Developing teams with limited resources has been one of his trademarks throughout the years. He has coordinated training conferences and workshops known as “The Gatherings”. Most recently helped formed a consortium of companies and consultants to create an on line advisory group and workshop conferences known at HBCU Grow.He currently lives in Dayton, Ohio and has one daughter.

Directed a $100 million comprehensive capital campaign with over $95 million raised, the largest campaign ever, for a HBCU land-grant university. . Established a decentralized approach with development officers in each school. Supervised the areas of annual fund, calling center, prospect research, grant writing, development, publications, media relations, foundation staffing, real estate, alumni relations and more. Accomplishments: Giving increased from $1 million a year to $16 million upon departure. Won two national CASE awards recently, one for fundraising excellence and the other in marketing. Served as liaison with seven affiliated entities. Increased alumni giving percentage from 4% to 15%. Additional NCAT Posts: Served as the Executive Director of the North Carolina A&T University Foundation, which has seen the assets grow from $8 million to over $70 million. Growth included real estate transactions (e.g., the building of private residence facilities worth $51 million and the purchasing of another apartment complex). Vice ChancellorNccu 1993 - 1999Directed a $50 million capital campaign, raising more than $35.5 million before acceptance of a new position. The capital campaign represented the largest campaign ever for a public, liberal arts, historically black university. Managed overall development operations, including annual fund, alumni, major gifts, special events, planned giving, corporate/foundation relations, institutional research, and constituent support with staff of ten.
