Initially joined for 3 months, but like Victor Kiam, I liked the company so much, I bought (Some) of it!!!

    Started as an apprentice engineer in 1976 with the 1st year spent at the EITB training centre in Purley Way for intensive "Off the job" training in all aspects of engineering including mechanical (Lathes, milling and grinding machinery), electrical including single and 3-phase wiring, technical drawing and electronics. Attended Croydon College from 1976 to 1980 before passing my final exams with distinction.Started at Londex properly in 1977 and went through the apprenticeship scheme learning all aspects of the company spending 2 months in every department before landing in the test workshop full time after finishing the apprenticeship.Rose to senior test engineer before leaving in December 1984 to move from the electronics arena into the radio telecommunications arena at Securicor Communications working with the fledgling cellular radio TACS system or Cellnet as it was known.
