A police officer specializes in crisis management, de-escalation, problem solving, articulation, and interview. Deputies are frequently required to interact with the public in the most dire of circumstances, be prepared for multiple outcomes, and make decisions on limited and sometimes incomplete information in short periods of time. Stress management and the ability to work well within a team environment are critical elements to success. A police officer is versatile and able to evolve in fluid changing environments maintaining control in dynamic, volatile, and emotion driven situations. We are required to make critical decisions with lasting impact on others grounded in sound investigation and forethought of consequence.
