After leaving University, I worked for 10 years as a fish farmer, mostly in North Yorkshire. I then worked in a bakery for a further 16 years, initially on the hygiene team, but mostly in the stores dept, where I obtained both ride on and pedestrian fork lift licences. Following a move to Sheffield I worked briefly in a plastics company warehouse, until I obtained a position in Pennine Food's in-house food testing laboratory. When Pennine closed the lab, I was successful in moving to Alcontrol in Rotherham. Following a brief period in media prep, I moved to food micro dept, and from there to food chemistry before moving again to their allergens testing laboratory. Following acquisition of Alcontrol by ALS Life Sciences I was once again made redundant. Fast forward 26 months, and I am now employed as a lan tech by Calibre Scientific.
