Whilst working in a busy customer service department of a large pan-European speciality chemical distributor I covered several business units; Chemical Industries, Coatings, Rubber pigment additives and Salt.Communicating with customers of varying sizes, from large market leading multinationals to small SME’s, also leasing with European counterparts to coordinate intercompany deliveries. Handling customer orders to meet specific customer requirements and tight deadlines and raising purchase orders with suppliers to ensure UK stock holding. Obtain transport quotes for shipments to and from Europe. Logging quotes in the CRM system and sending official quotes to the customer on behalf of the sales manager. Logging customer complaints and raising any potential issues. Attend internal meetings with sales and product manger’s.Analysis of sales data from BI reports, identifying trends within the data to assist with; stock management, sales forecasting and identifying potential lost customers and areas to increase sales. Assisting with focused market research projects to support the sales team and expanding our customer base.Working across several business units gave me the opportunity to observe the different in customer demands between each business unit, whilst drawing on the vast knowledge of experience from the senior members of the customer service team within the different departments. After the implementation of a new invoice scanning system, I became a go to for the rest of the team as I quickly picked up the process and now help train new starters with this system.

Requesting credit reports on new customers to assist the credit control team. Providing holiday cover for cashier covering three legal entities, daily matching customer payments to invoices. Assisting management accountant with reconciliation of daily bank statements.

Worked with a team of researchers within the Lancashire Business School at the University of Central Lancashire.The research focused on Small and Medium Enterprises during the economic recovery, examining the use of workplace flexibility practices and the impact of firm performance.Duties during the internship tasks included; Collecting information to make up the initial sample, having an input to the design of the online questionnaire, data entry, data cleansing and analysis, contacting individuals, via phone and email, to increase the response rate or to gather additional information.
