David Ledger Email and Phone Number
I love designing elegant solutions to technical challenges. I work in engineering and my hobbies are engineering adjacent. The personal projects I'm most proud of include designing and building a CNC machine and 3d printer. I hope to one day have a workshop that I can put them in!I enjoy programming in my spare time, I have contributed to the upcoming C++26 standard and, I was a public reviewer of the upcoming MISRA C++ standard (which would be an increment from the now vastly outdated standard from 2008). I am also a contributor to various package managers, including Winget and Conan.

Student EngineerIngenuity Design Group Jun 2012 - Jan 2013Chatswood, New South Wales, AustraliaThis was a high paced job, and in the short time I had the opportunity to work on various projects with the team at Ingenuity. I worked on:- Key Finder: A Bluetooth LE 4.0 product, that could be used to locate somebodies the keys using their phone. I performed fine soldering of 0402 components during the development of this product.- Portable Phone Charger: A device used by bars and clubs to provide charging of patron’s phones from their tables. I learnt about EMC emissions, EMC testing, developed software to program the device in production, and learnt about battery charging circuits.- Multi-Phone Charging System: A device used to charge multiple "Portable Phone Chargers" simultaneously. I worked on the soldering of parts, assisted in prototyping and modding of circuit board assemblies, and learnt about the driving of LCD screens.-Robotics: I worked on a home automation robotics project, designed sheet metal parts in Rhino 3d, and worked with a team to design various aspects of the project (under NDA).- Town Water Saver: A device used to detect leaks in plumbing. Worked with my mentor to design aspects of the schematic, perform the PCB layout, and coordinate the procurement of parts to create prototypes. I developed the devices firmware in C, did EMC compliance testing and resolved a source of emissions so that the product could be compliant.- Pump Pressure Controller: A water saving device that works by controlling the flow from a pump. I did the circuit board layout, firmware in C, and sourced various parts. - Serial Communication Interfaces: I did the PCB layout, coordinated the manufacturing of an adapter board, which would provide a RS232 serial interface to a client's product. - Medical Laser Device: A prototype device that used specific wavelengths of infrared to target fat in the body and help it be absorbed by the blood and then leave the body. Worked on the prototyping of a medical device and designed a Perspex case in Rhino3d.
