David was part of the Built Assets Team in the London office at TFT. He was responsible for technical due diligence reports on buildings for major commercial acquisitions for investment or occupation by our clients. These included the Arndale Centre, Manchester; Grafton Centre, Cambridge; Covent Garden Market, London; and numerous large offices, out-of-town retail developments and warehouses. David led his team in large vendor surveys, including those for Barclays, Tesco, Marks & Spencer and the Rank Organisation.David acted on behalf of CBRE Global Investors (formerly ING Real Estate) in its acquisition of the Abbey portfolio - at £1.3bn, the large single property transaction in the UK at that time.Under a term commission for building surveying consultancy work, on behalf of M&G, David had direct involvement in countless instructions over the past 30 years. He also advised other major institutional clients, including AVIVA, Legal & General, PIC, Railpen, Oxford Properties, KFIM, and The Crown Estate.He chaired the RICS working party responsible for the latest edition of the guidance note on commercial building surveys.He was a member of the Pyramus & Thisbe Club, an organisation for those involved in administering the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.David regularly gives seminars on building defects, technical due diligence and managing asbestos in buildings.He is a freeman of the City of London and a liveryman in the Chartered Surveyors’ Company and has notably been involved in organising charity events, such as an abseil and tower-run up The Heron Tower (jointly with LandAid) as well as their entry into The Lord Mayor's Show.He is the co-founder of 'Freehold', a networking and support group for LGBT+ real estate professionals.
