I have 23 years experience as a Diabetes Clinical Nurse Consultant (Australia) and Diabetes Specialist Nurse Band 7 (UK) in the field of diabetes self management education and support. Health coach. I have been successful in winning numerous grants for projects, including a New South Wales Department of Health Grant for men and boys where I designed and implemented an innovative and unique ‘Men and Diabetes’ group education and support program.I was the first to implement in clinical practice the Nottingham Assessment of Functional Footcare. My passion is an empowerment approach: client centred diabetes self management education.

E.g. develop and provide weekly in-service education to ward nurses. E.g. write a weekly news email for all clinical staff. E.g. deliver education sessions to GP practices. E.g. supporting GP’s in the care of complex diabetes patients. e.g. develop strategies and systems to enable all PLWD had access to the service. E.g. acted as a resources for all clinical teams managing inpatients. *Planning services based upon the needs of the population and changes in the health system. E.g. assessing the number of women being diagnosed with GDM and providing sufficient staffing hours to cover needs. E.g. assessing the needs of PLWT1D who use CGM and insulin pump therapy and providing sufficient staffing hours to cover needs. *Developing and monitoring the clinical effectiveness of service and delivery systems. E.g. collaborating with other team members to review and develop care plans for PLWD being admitted on a frequency of more than 3 times per month.
