I have experience of teaching student ODP's, student nurses and student paramedics. Although I have only been qualified for just over two year I feel my experiences since qualifying have helped me teach, and I can empathise with students and there situations. I enjoy teaching and find it very rewarding I possess good interpersonal and communication skills, which are essential for the patient’s perioperative journey, as well as contributing to the efficient and safe running of the theatre department. I always try to act in a professional manner to both patients and staff.I am skilled in the resuscitation and transfer of critically ill patients both surgical and non surgical and I have undertaken transfers by road and air.I have good time management skills and I am very well organised. I am proficient in using various PC software (Microsoft office etc, as well as various operating systems).As a member of the theatre team it is important for me to effectively manage my personal and work-related pressure. There are work situations which are distressing and stressful. I have found it very important not to take work problems home and also not to let personal problems affect my work. Having hobbies and interests aids this. I am an avid golfer, who has had the opportunity to play professionally. I am also interested in photography, fitness, and technology. I have self motivated and have used my initiative on various occasions. I am a team player and I get on well with people. As part of the theatre team I regularly deal with problems. Sometimes these are unanticipated and require teamwork to resolve them. Working well as a team is crucial within the theatre department. As well as being member of the team I am happy to work independently.As an ODP I am required to work unsupervised, especially when preparing theatres from an anaesthetic point of view or attending emergencies in the A&E department.
