While in high school I worked for a studio as a backup wedding photographer. What this means is I photographed every pose set - at least one image. This was done back in the film days incase the main film that was sent to a lab for processing got ruined, then we could go back and process my film and still have something of the wedding. After high school attended Moorhead State University and worked as a photographer for the college paper. I then work for a studio in Detroit Lakes, MN for two years. From there I went to Minneapolis and attended The School Of Communication Arts for photography. After graduation I came home and became a partner in Creative Images, a studio doing several weddings and portraits. After a two year stint with Creative Images I move to Jamestown, ND in 1986 and became the photographer/Manager of Photography by Kings studio. In 1996 I bought out the other partners and became the sole owner of King Photography Studio. On Friday Dec. 9, 2005 the building were the studio was located burned to the ground and was a total loss. Lucky for me I had an out of town job that day and had left a bunch of equipment in my van that night so I had equipment for a wedding that weekend. After looking for a year we relocated back on main street. Some what of a smaller location but very doable. Our main focus at Kings is families, children, high school seniors, activity pictures with a few weddings every year.
