Statewide leader on hazardous waste and solid waste policy and technical issues often focusing on household hazardous waste (HHW) and very small quantity generators (VSQGs) of hazardous waste. Also worked on special projects regarding tire fires, electronics product stewardship and leftover paint product stewardship.While at Ecology served in the following national association capacities:- Director of SWANA's Special Waste Division from 1998-2001, recruited and lead peers to provide national trainings, creation of association policies, technical fact sheet series, and the first Special Waste Symposium.- NAHMMA Board of Directors from 2004-2007 where I developed the governance structure for regional chapters and then developed nine regional NAHMMA chapters covering 27 states containing over 90% of the national oranization's membership. - 2007-2008, recruited and lead a team to develop a new 24-hour health & safety course for HHW operations that was adopted by NAHMMA and SWANA.

Assisted communities in evaluating solid waste management options. This included an integration of various systems such as landfill disposal, energy recovery (incineration), recycling, composting, and long-haul of wastes. Also worked with communities and state agencies in development of local hazardous waste programs and design of collection systems for Household Hazardous Waste and Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator wastes. These programs were designed to meet regulatory requirements, local and state policy waste goals and management hierarchies, with cost-effective solutions.
