Achieved by:• REST API Server – Implemented REST API server using Node and Express to facilitate communication between client application and MongoDB database to create, read, update and delete users, conversations and messages• Instant Communication – Implemented Socket server to allow for TCP connection. • User Authentication – Implemented user authentication using JWT library. Use of middleware to implement for each route for added security to ensure conversations cannot be accessed by unauthorised users• Storage – Use of MongoDB Atlas as Cloud DBaaS for user, conversation and message storage. Local storage utilised to store login details after authentication.• Mobile Application – Use of React Native to build a mobile application with similar UI/UX design to well-known messenger apps for ease of adoption. Messages broken down into components to allow for reusability and ease of further expansion• Version Control – Use of Git and GitHub to back-up and track changes• Requirement Analysis - Conducted user interviews to outline requirements and performed analysis to prioritise. Broke down requirements into sprints and incorporated user feedback to ensure application and features were fit for purpose.
