I am a business development consultant, renewable energy engineer and company director. I am currently a Research Director (Strategic Energy Collaborations) at the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF), University of Technology Sydney, where I lead development and execution of industry-focussed collaborative research projects that aim to facilitate the rapid transition to renewable energy. I am passionate about reducing carbon emissions through commercialisation of clean energy technologies. For over 25 years I assisted SMEs with technology development and commercialisation through business and strategic planning, capital raising, project management, financial modelling and analysis. I have been a director of five technology start-ups that have gone on to list on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), and continue to mentor company founders through the UTS-based start-up incubator EnergyLab. My expertise includes distributed and renewable energy systems, flexible demand, and net zero strategy. I project-managed the first grid-connected photovoltaic system in NSW, helped to develop, optimise and install some of the first residential rooftop solar systems in Australia, and successfully managed a production line for the world’s most efficient solar cells. I have edited and co-authored books on photovoltaic system design and solar car racing, and successfully developed and delivered training courses in renewable energy.
