My Amazon journey started humbly: sweating it out at an outdoor kiosk at the Ellenton Outlet Mall in sunny Florida.In 2012, I was a college student at the University of South Florida, splitting my time between studying history and military science and selling sunglasses sourced by my dad from US wholesalers. One day, I had an idea that would change everything: "Why not sell these sunglasses on Amazon?"At the time, Amazon wasn’t quite the eCommerce juggernaut we know today. My dad was skeptical: “Do people even buy stuff from Amazon?” he asked. But I was determined to prove it could work.Armed with little more than a collection of old coins (my startup capital!), I navigated the complexities of Amazon and created a seller account. Mind you, this was before resources like Jungle Scout existed! I photographed every pair of sunglasses, edited the backgrounds myself, and listed each product one painstaking step at a time. It was all FBM (Fulfilled by Merchant), no PPC, and every sale felt like a small victory.Then, in March 2014, lightning struck. A single sale of a gaudy pink camo pair of sunglasses turned into ten by lunchtime. We had accidentally discovered an untapped niche: camo sunglasses. By 2015, we had launched Hornz Camo, our own brand, and built a thriving business around it.Fast forward to today, and my journey has come full circle.
