Reporting to the Senior Manager for Canada Federal Sector, responsibilities include: • Project planning for private cloud infrastructure upgrades, using performance and capacity reports of current environments to recommend new systems appropriate to the customer’s needs. • Work with multiple vendors to obtain comparative quotes for new equipment and life cycle replacements. • Develop and update system architecture documents and diagrams. • Prepare and present new or revised system designs to customers and other Kyndryl teams. • Perform performance analysis of customer environments, including adding tooling when needed to determine bottlenecks and recommend solutions to identified performance problems. • Work with project managers, architects and system specialists to develop data migration plans.

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Reporting to the Manager for UNIX/Storage Systems, responsibilities included: • Worked with a team of four other infrastructure specialists, managing storage systems and SAN networks at four federal government agencies. Led weekly team huddles to ensure all account targets were met and staff challenges were addressed. • Collaborated with senior account architects and other team leads and specialists to identity infrastructure performance bottlenecks, and recommend solutions using existing systems, or suggesting new hardware if required. • Worked on secondment with another specialist group leading the storage migration efforts for a provincial government data center move and end of life storage equipment replacement projects. • Planned a full storage system overhaul for a customer that had introduced significant data growth and retention requirements due to COVID related changes. • Performed routine system administration duties on IBM, Netapp, EMC, Brocade and Cisco SAN storage devices, including system commission and decommission, firmware updates, service change requests and secure data destruction. • Prepared storage capacity reports for billing and hardware expansion proposals. • Coordinated failed hardware replacements with vendors and data center teams at multiple sites across the country. • Performed regular analysis and investigated customer reported performance issues using IBM Spectrum Control, VMware vCenter, STOR2RRD and Brocade Network Advisor tools. • Prepared system compliance reports for security and audit specialists.

Reporting to the Manager of Distributed Storage, responsibilities included:• Meet with account executives, architects and customers on a regular basis to discuss how to better meet current and future business requirements, recommend upgrades, provide capacity planning and trending reports, then use ITIL Change Management systems to record the agreed upon project plans.• Management of various SAN devices including NetApp, HP 3PAR and EVA, IBM SVC, XIV, DS, vSeries and FlashSystems in environments with Windows, VMware, AIX, HPUX and Linux hosts.• Maintain Brocade fiber channel fabrics, made of directors, edge switches and blade modules.• Deployed Tivoli Storage Productivity Center (TPC) to provide service desk integrated alerting as well as capacity planning and performance analysis capabilities.• Overhaul and ongoing administration of Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) backup and recovery systems for multiple customers on Windows VMware, Linux and AIX platforms.• Manage a fleet of IBM and HP LTO tape libraries in addition to an HP StoreOnce VTL/NAS appliance.• Perform regular security checks, ensuring systems adhere to agreed standards for audit compliance.• Develop and maintain system procedures and documentation used by colleagues and other collaborating teams.• Participate in a regular on-call rotation, responding to service desk tickets and systems alerts.

Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Services, responsibilities included:• Designing new IT systems for new consolidated office space, using RFQ/RFP to interview and select vendors for internet/telephony services, managed printing, email hosting, desktop support and boardroom audio visual systems. • Developing a three year IT budget with scheduled hardware replacement, annualized software licensing and a funded strategy to achieve compliance with the COBIT IT framework. Established vendor relations for ad-hoc procurement.• Building local cloud infrastructure using Dell iSCSI SAN storage and Dell and HP servers running VMware ESX. • Provisioning Microsoft Server 2008 R2 for onsite Active Directory, DNS, Exchange, FTP, File and Print services. • Deploying VPN services using Cisco ASA devices to provide site to site links and remote access for software clients.

Edmonton Alberta

Reporting to the Data Networks Manager, responsibilities included:• Managing a fleet of Dell, HP and IBM servers running Windows and ESX. Pioneered use of MSCS server clusters to improve service availability.• Deployment of Microsoft Server NT4/2000/2003/2008 services including File, Print, DNS, DHCP, IIS and SQL, as well as Active Directory hardened with customized security templates and GPOs. • Automation of routine tasks using Windows shell scripts, VBscript and custom SQL databases.• Administration of mirrored EMC SANs and Brocade fiber channel switches.• Development of security related systems such as file server content indexing, USB device inventory and an offline Microsoft patching tool. • Preparing and presenting reports to senior management, including service outage summaries, personnel evaluations, threat risk assessments and IT security audit results. • Administration of Cisco and HP network devices in a campus area network, as well as several remote LANs, some with a Cisco Call Manager VOIP VLAN.• Overhaul of the CommVault backup system including determining the optimal baseline configuration and providing technical direction to the deployment teams, resulting in the near elimination of backup and recovery failures.• Performing regular remote site visits to evaluate areas needing improvement, refining the equipment baseline as required and ensuring sites are up to date and in consistent configuration.
